ENG xxxx: Advanced Nonfiction Writing
3 credits
Prereq: Eng 1520
In writing, practice is important. Advanced Nonfiction Writing provides additional advanced practice in research, documentation and writing techniques beyond Eng 1520. This course gives students an opportunity to further refine communication and critical thinking skills for personal and professional applications. Both journalistic and academic approaches to nonfiction writing may be covered.

I suggest we change the title to Creative Nonfiction to align with four-year schools and MFA programs. I've advocated for this course in the past.
In the course description, I'd delete the first line. In the second sentence, I'd delete ADVANCED and just say "provides additional practice in..." At the end, I'd make mention of writing options like memoir, narrative and feature writing, opinion essays... so the gambit of nonfiction is covered.
It's a course that many of my students have asked for in the past. I think it would be a great addition to OCC! Good work.
